BOILERS – FURNACES -INCINERATORS- GAS-OIL SEPARATION EQUIPMENT

During the last years, Mellor has developed an intense activity in the area of boilers, reheating and process furnaces, the incinerators and the gas-oil separation pieces of equipment.

Our field of action is varied as we encompass Refineries, Petrochemical Plants, Area Units, Central Power Generation Plants, Sugar Mills, etc.

As regards the scope of our work, it is equally diverse as it comprises the design, manufacture and assembly of the already cited sets, the extension studies of remaining life of old units with proprietary programmes

as well as the updating and repowering of both equipment and auxiliaries.

Currently, as the burning of renewable materials is very much in vogue, we emphasize the fact that Mellor is the company with the most biomass boilers (mainly sugar cane bagasse) installed on the local market. This fact dates back to the late 1940s and continues to be valid up today.

One of the highest points of the technology developed by Mellor is the combustion, and we have designed our own heaters to meet this need, which are based on EEUU Combustion Engineering technology.

These can burn from solid fuels such as carbon in suspension, liquids like fuel oil, both light or heavy, and /or complexes such as maleic anhydride waste, up to natural gas, refinery gas and even pure hydrogen.

Emphasis has been placed on keeping a state-of-the-art technology in combustion, design and equipment development and we have committed ourselves to a high quality standard as well. That is why, during 2019, we have recertified the ASME code not only for the design and manufacture of pressure equipment but for its field assembly as well.

This has been accomplished through the agency authorized by ASME, HARTFORD, STEAM BOLIER of EEUU.

The same effort is, of course, placed on both keeping the quality of our services and taking care of our environment.

It must be noted that even in such difficult times like the one we are going through due to the pandemic, our main clients have accompanied us giving us quality work and enabling us in this way to keep and even increase our staff in order to face the work in progress.

Only some of the work done is listed below as an example;

  • Design, manufacture, transport and assembly of a packaged water-tube boiler (with all its auxiliary equipment) to Transportadora de Gas del Sur, to be installed in its cryogenic plant in General Cerri, Bahía Blanca. This boiler has been certified with the ASME stamp. It is in progress.
  • Assembly of two process furnaces, for the new DHT Plant, together with its combustion air preheating system at the AXION refinery in Campana.
  • Assembly of a reformer furnace that has three radiating bodies and a convection that is a common to the three of them. It also has the electromechanical auxiliaries for their interconnection with the rest of the Refinery. The same happens as regards the client and the plant. In progress.
  • Revamping of a water-tube boiler, which is also for AXION in its Refinery of Campana.
  • Studies of the remaining life extension of several water-tube boilers that burn bagasse and wood chips in different Sugar Mills in Salta and Jujuy. In progress.
  • Revamping and updates of 10 furnaces in the same sugar mills. In partial progress.
  • Design, manufacture and assembly of an Ammonium Nitrate Reformer with its combustion air preheating system and all its auxiliaries, for the AUSTIN firm in its plant of Salta. In the same work a Pearl Tower was manufactured and assembled. In partial execution.
  • Assembly of the first fluidized bed boiler (in operation) in our country for Paper from Misiones (currently, ARCOR group)in Misiones.
  • Revamping of two MELLOR boilers of tangential combustion at the YPF Refinery in Lujan of Cuyo.
  • Revamping of two recovery boilers at the Dock Sud Power Plant
  • Revamping (with modification in its combustion system designed by MELLOR) of two International Combustion boilers (English) in Central Costanera.
  • The only company in our country to assemble two recovery boilers with ASME Stamp for a SIEMENS combined cycle of 850 MW. This work was carried out at San Martin Central, located in TIMBUES, Santa Fé Province.

In view of these achievements, we can say that our company has positioned itself as one of the few firms on the market capable of providing our so dissimilar clients, as we have mentioned previously, with a wide range of services which start with the basic design of the system or equipment and ends up with its implementation
