Marcos González Bibolini
Human Resources Manager of Camuzzi
Camuzzi has recently obtained the “Great Place to Work” Certification, being the first energy distribution company, both gas and electricity, to receive this award.
Would you like to tell us what this certificate is about and who grants it?
Great Place to Work (GPTW) is a global consulting firm that helps organizations to achieve better business results with the focus set on work experience of the whole work team.
GPTW operates in 58 countries in the five continents and recognizes the best companies to work for through the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data drawn from reliable surveys carried out among the members of the organization.
Having been awarded the Great Place To Work Certification Seal certifies that the organization has achieved good results and is on its way to becoming a great place of work for its members.
We have been given such significant recognition to the Culture Quality of the organizations, because of the data thrown by the last work environment survey. Thanks to the perception and assessment of all of us that are part of Camuzzi, this Certification confirms that 7 out of 10 employees have a positive experience in our company. We can say that in Camuzzi… we are building up an excellent place to work!.
This is important because we know that by the experience of having relationships based on great trust every day we are happier, more productive and make a difference to go on growing as an organization and having a positive impact on all the areas of the business. This recognition shows that Camuzzi has an organizational culture valued by the work team. The Certification of Great Place To Work, shows that people are the priority for this organization because we are convinced that “good people make up good companies “
Besides, it is important to stress the fact that we are the only energy distributor, both gas and electric, to get this certification, and we share this achievement with other companies of the energy sector.
This encourages us to go on with our commitment to building and keeping good practices when it comes to the corporate culture based on high trust.
In these times of a pandemic that are so difficult for the staff work, and especially for the specific activities of Camuzzi,
How have you been able to get this high rating?
Within this context, it is essential to know what the situation of the collaborators is like. In our case, taking into account the difficult situation of the pandemic, we focused on each one of those that make up Camuzi and their families.
As it is a company that provides a public service, our operation has never stopped, just on the contrary, we have guaranteed the continuity and quality of the distribution of natural gas to all our users and this implied keeping close, taking care physically and emotionally, communicating and motivating the whole staff.
All the actions taken to make it happen, having the leaders of the organization as the main allies, needed to be measured/quantified to be able to improve our proposals and add value in the future.
Have you found any need to apply different policies according to the type of task performed and its responsibility?
In all the cases we have focused on keeping “the nearness”, despite physical distance, being connected and feeling recognized, valued, listened to and cared for. These are the features which build the basis for relationships of trust. And if there are relationships based on trust, everything flows naturally: commitment, enthusiasm, motivation; that is, everything that is needed to get excellent business results flows naturally.
We have focused on aspects like:
– Virtual leadership and remote work
– Prevention and health care campaigns for the staff because as we provide essential service
our employees were more exposed to falling ill.
– Flu vaccination campaign for operational personnel.
– Communication in the work teams
– Meeting spaces for reflection, sensitization and joint construction of different business issues.
– Relax and Recreational areas
– Constant training and development, intensified at times of a pandemic.
– Wider range of benefits, connected with keeping a balance between family and working life.
What has this distinction meant for the company?
We feel proud and happy as this distinction had an impact both at an internal and external level.
Internally, it empowers all the members of the organization. As we know that we are part of an excellent company to work for, it motivates us to move forward and shows the way to follow as to where we want to stay and where we want to go.
It is a great stimulus, for all the levels of the organization, to learn that we are recognized because of our organizational culture which we have been rebuilding and strengthening during the last years, and this encourages us to move even further.
It is clear that this distinction has boosted our employer brand, making it a place where people not only want to stay but also want to come. The certification has become our seal of organizational quality when it comes to employability. I believe that anybody who knows that we are a certified company knows that they will find in Camuzzi good practices that will enable them to develop personally and professionally. This is essential for us because as I have already said, our great motto is “good people make up good companies” and this is the way we want to be seen, to be felt and experienced. A place where people are our priority, where they can feel supported, and respected as well as being able to develop themselves, wind down and enjoy what they do … the rest comes on its own.
