Medical Emergency Management in the Oil, Gas and Mining Sectors

In industries where operations are carried out in complex, remote and high-risk environments, health management and emergency response have moved beyond a purely operational role to become a strategic factor. In this context, ECCO Emergencias y Prevención has consolidated its position as a leading provider of medical assistance services for the oil, gas and mining sectors, offering a comprehensive solution specifically designed to meet the demands of these activities.

With more than 40 years of experience in the medical emergency system and as part of Swiss Medical Group since 2005, ECCO has developed a specialized business unit focused on the Oil & Gas industry, capable of operating in remote or hard-to-access geographic areas, where rapid response, preventive planning and logistics are critical.

The ECCO Oil, Gas and Mining (ECCO PGM) proposal is based on a Comprehensive Medical Assistance and Prevention Service, combining pre- and post-hospital care with in-depth industry knowledge. The service includes the development of industry-specific procedures aligned with the highest safety standards and current regulations.

In 2025, the company obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification for the Coordination of On-Site Medical Assistance Units process, a milestone that reflects its commitment to quality, continuous improvement and support for the development of the oil, gas and mining sectors in Argentina.

One of the core pillars of the service is close collaboration with the companies’ Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) departments, through site assessments, technical advisory services and the comprehensive management of on-site medical facilities. This is complemented by a strong focus on preventive medicine, aimed at reducing absenteeism due to non-work-related illnesses and occupational accidents.

In terms of prevention and training, ECCO provides CPR and First Aid courses, ensuring that work teams are prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations. In addition, the company offers periodic medical check-ups, alcohol and drug testing, audiometric examinations, cardiovascular risk factor monitoring and vaccination campaigns.

Operational support is backed by a high-complexity, proprietary infrastructure, including fully equipped medical trailers, 4×4 and 4×2 UTIM ambulances with intensive care standards, medical transfer units, and a Lear Jet 60 aircraft fitted for medical evacuations anywhere in the country, ensuring safety and efficiency in critical situations.

With a team of physicians and nurses specialized in emergency medicine and pre-hospital care, ECCO reaffirms its commitment to workers’ health and to the operational continuity of key projects for the country’s energy and mining development.
